Keep the love alive

Posted by Paige on Aug 13, 2009 in General |

One of my best friends had asked me to forward this message to as many as possible. I obliged without hesitation. This is one of those times where borders, nationalities, geographical distances do not matter. Cos our hearts beat as one, we feel as one. And indeed… we are all human.

With the present economic downturn everyone is trying to lessen their expenditures. However, I am sure that everyone no matter whether they are living in Taiwan or not are aware of the disaster brought forth by Typhoon Morakot.

With the ease and technological advancements of today, Earth has become a global village. While we can at least count our blessings of having our basic necessities met, I hope that everyone can put themselves in others’ shoes and
Remember those suffering in the disaster zone
Remember that Life is a irreversible precious commodity

The small part that each of us does may not be recognized but we can let Love into everyone’ hearts
Hope that everyone can help out to keep love alive

Pls contact your local RED CROSS to make a donation in assistance to the disaster in Taiwan.

paige,

through your words, we have been touched by the heartfelt sincerity that has accompanied your spontaneous act of kindness … your comment on each of us fundamentally being at one with the rest of the world illustrates that …. at the very root of it all, when we remove the external trappings of persona, wealth , fame and status ….. life is about relationship…the relationship we have with ourselves, and the relationship we have with others.

It can be said that if someone could put all the world’s woes on a plate and offer to redistribute it equally, most people would be more than content just to take back their own share.

I used to ponder on why it was so difficult (for myself) to reach out to help others , when I chanced upon some powerful insights that have helped tremendously …

…..most people are afraid to reach out to others because they are afraid of looking foolish or being rejected… we can overcome this fear by recognizing that so long as our intentions are sincere and honourable, it doesn’t really matter if we encounter the occasional rebuff… because as you mentioned ,
“don’t leave the world wishing you can relive your life … make this lifetime count”
- we have got to live life with passion, be willing to feel stupid, try things that may not work, and change our approach if it doesn’t !

…. all too often , we forget that a small act of kindness from each of us may be all that is needed to make the world a more beautiful place. .. we don’t need to go out and change the world !

“You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you” – John Wooden

“Once touched by the gratitude of a human being , a life transforms forever.” – Anthony Robbins

This could be only the start of a horrendous disaster as many predict that as typhoon season has just started and the Typhoon Morakot might be only a start. This typhoon has already taken many lives not only of the people living there but also those who went to help out. The floods and landslides have caused much instability also to infrastructure which might not be cleared in time. It is great to share the care for fellow humans.

Latest news:
Blood donation drive begun to help with blood shortages in Southern Taiwan (2009/08/13)

Members of the public are being encouraged to donate blood as reports of blood shortages in southern Taiwan have appeared. The greatest need is for Type AB, Type A and blood platelets. Members of the public in areas not affected by Typhoon Morakot’s devastation are urged to donate blood as a way of helping their compatriots in the south.
A website has been set up to encourage blood donations due to shortages of blood needed for transfusions in southern Taiwan.

The flooding has been so severe and it has happened to our countrymen. I am encouraging everyone in my family to donate blood, said this woman.

In the worst flood-affected areas of southern Taiwan, blood stocks are down to just four to six days supply. Blood donation centers in northern Taiwan are calling on the public to roll up their sleeves and give as much as they can.

Shih Shuan-ting
Keelung Blood Donation Center
We have approximately 6 days of inventory, said Keelung Blood Center chief Shih Shuan-ting. Currently, Type AB, Type A and blood platelets are in especially short supply. I would suggest that the public donate platelets.

In the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot, with daily reports of death and devastation, the need for blood in southern Taiwan has risen greatly. All those willing to provide a helping hand to those in need will find donations of blood very welcome at this time.

World Vision is collecting fund for the Typhoon Morakot also. Personally I prefer them coz they are more specific and ask you to write down what you are donating for.
